How to clean cast iron stove grates

I know how tough it is sometimes to get the baked on food and grease off of your cast iron stove grates! First you want to soak them in very hot water with a couple of drops of grease cutting dish soap for about 15-20 minutes. Then you can use a non-metal scrubber and degreasing chemical to scrub off the build up. If you have stubborn areas that will not get clean, you can soak them overnight and then repeat the scrubbing process!

Cleaning Hack!! - for tough to clean areas on your stove grates or oven racks, you can place them in a large construction style trash bag (you want it to be a thick heavy duty trash bag), then pour about 2 quarts of ammonia in the bottom of the bag and seal it up very tight. Let this sit over night and the next day, all of the stubborn stains will just wipe right off! Please be sure to do this trick in a very well ventilated room or outside would be better. Never mix ammonia with bleach or any other cleaning agent as this can produce toxic fumes!
